Children grow when you give them space

Nana Aba Anamoah has shared her approach to parenting, emphasizing the value of independence and allowing her children to make their own choices.

“The independence my father gave me worked, and that’s exactly what I’m giving to my son.

“I allow him to make his choices, when he goes, and he makes a disastrous mistake, he knows his mother is there because this is how we’ve all been brought up,” she said during the Konnected Minds Podcast.

She reflected on how this principle shaped her own life.

“My father wanted me to be a medical doctor, but I chose TV. He wasn’t fully happy at first, but he supported me, and it made all the difference,” Nana Aba explained.

She hopes her parenting style will help her son develop confidence and resilience.

“Giving children the space to decide, even if they fail, is how you help them grow.

“They know they have support, but they also know they are responsible for their choices,” she added.
