Creatives must turn down disrespectful offers
Actress Lydia Forson has advised colleague creatives to macho courage and turn down any offer that equates to disrespect.
Her advise comes after Kumasi-based Asaakaa Boys revealed that they turned down offers to perform for flight tickets.
The music group could not fathom why event organisers will disrespect their brand by suggesting that they perform for flight tickets when they are supposed to pay for that and also pay them for the work they will do for them.
Asakaa Boys who spoke on Kumasi-based Pure FM said everyone In the music industry makes money apart from the musician.
Reacting to this, Lydia Forson in a tweet said it’s imperative for creatives to turn down any offer that amounts to disrespect.
Her tweet said “I’m glad they didn’t go! We’ll talk about event organizers and promoters next. Dear artist normalize turning down a deal if it equates poor treatment /disrespect. You can’t treat your own people like shit and expect others not to! Exposure doesn’t pay bills”.

There have been stories of creative people being shortchanged just in the name of being given exposure for their work.
Most creative artistes in Ghana who get older have to beg for funds to ensure that they can provide themselves three square meal.
