E-levy on ‘MoMo’ is like falling from frying pan to fire
Ghanaian Celebrity, Elorm Adablah popularly known as E.L has said that scrapping road tolls for E-levy by the government is like falling from frying pan to fire.
The 1.75% levy on mobile money and other electronic transactions is contained in the 2022 budget presented by the Finance Minister, Hon. Ken Ofori-Atta to Parliament forms part of efforts by the government to raise revenue.
Earlier, the Minister of Finance informed Parliament about the government’s decision to scrap the collection of road tolls and E.L has made his opinion known concerning the debate.
He remarked “Like they wanted to steal me at the toll booth and I asked them if have they not heard what’s going on.
“We will not pay the road toll again but we will pay it in a different way and that’s even worse pass,” he said during an interview with Amansan Krakye.
He added on Kastle FM in Cape Coast “So we are watching how we can survive that new e-levy 1.75% since it’s coming very soon”.
Talking about the impact of the E-levy on mobile money transactions, E.L revealed that now people would have to look for alternatives since the 1.75% charge will drain people’s pockets.
“Now mobile money go claim all our money so now we have to find an alternative to momo cos charlie dem spoil momo,” he ended on the Kastle Entertainment Show.
