Edem details why Amapiano songs done in Ghana will not fly outside
‘Keone’ hitmaker, Edem has stated that doing Amapiano songs without featuring an artiste from South Africa won’t make the song blow outside of Ghana.
He remarked “This is something that I can say that will blow your mind, all the Amapiano songs that we’re recording here if you don’t have a South African artiste, it doesn’t cross anywhere.
“Because I was in South Africa about four weeks ago and they have deliberately closed their scene to people who are doing Amapiano and not involving South African key Amapiano people,” he revealed.
Edem talking to Amansan Krakye on Cape Coast’s Kastle FM said Ghanaian artistes doing Amapiano songs must have a South Africa artiste on the song to make it cross over.
He added “So you notice that Davido is always doing it with the South Africans, you also notice that Burna Boy did it with a South African and that’s a smart thing that Stonebwoy and Adina also did.
“So all I encourage people is if you will try and get a South African on it that will be a good move if not it will only be a big song in Ghana but won’t cross over into the South African and other spaces,” he ended.
