Empress Gifty sues Nana Agradaa for GHC20 million over defamation

Ghanaian gospel musician Empress Gifty Adorye has filed a GHC20 million defamation lawsuit against controversial evangelist Patricia Asiedua, popularly known as Nana Agradaa.
The suit, filed at the Tema High Court on May 20, 2025, accuses Agradaa of making slanderous and libelous statements against the gospel artiste in multiple online broadcasts.
According to court documents shared by Hopeson Adorye, husband of Empress Gifty, the gospel star is seeking damages for reputational harm caused by the persistent publication of “unprintable” comments made by Agradaa via her Facebook page and other platforms.
The lawsuit, filed through the law firm Osei Aidoh Akpokavie and Co, outlines four statements of claim and calls for a perpetual injunction to prevent Nana Agradaa “her servants, agents, privies, and assigns” from making further defamatory remarks.
In addition to the monetary compensation, Empress Gifty is also asking the court to:
- Order the removal of all defamatory videos and audios from Nana Agradaa’s social media platforms.
- Restrain her from making any future defamatory statements.
- Award costs, including legal fees, to the plaintiff.
The move follows months of online attacks and personal allegations by Nana Agradaa, which Empress Gifty believes have severely tarnished her image and professional reputation.
The case is expected to draw considerable public attention due to the high-profile nature of both parties and the increasing trend of public feuds between celebrities and social media influencers.
