Empress Gifty’s win was no accident – MC Yaa Yeboah defends
Gospel star Empress Gifty’s Artiste of the Year win at the Ghana Music Awards USA has generated heated debate online, with some questioning whether she truly deserved the honor.
But industry pundit MC Yaa Yeboah insists there’s nothing accidental about the award—it was earned through sheer hard work and strategy.
“Unlike many artistes who sit back and expect accolades to fall on their laps, Empress Gifty showed genuine interest in this award,” Yaa Yeboah wrote in a Facebook post.
“She went beyond the usual social media ‘thank you’ posts and actively advocated for her fans to vote.”
According to her, the official tallies confirmed that Empress Gifty was leading in votes, making her win indisputable.
“What truly sets her apart is her work ethic,” she added. “Every award she’s ever been nominated for, she has promoted tirelessly, making sure her fans feel involved and part of the journey. She doesn’t take nominations for granted.”
Yaa Yeboah argued that in an industry where many musicians act entitled to recognition, Empress Gifty’s commitment and determination set her apart.
“Critics may talk, but at the end of the day, her fans showed up, her votes were solid, and her commitment was undeniable. Love it or hate it—Empress Gifty earned that award.”
