Family demands apology after elder claims Lumba’s widow used a fake marriage certificate
The family of late highlife legend Daddy Lumba is calling on Abusuapayin Kofi Owusu to publicly apologise to the musician’s widow, Akosua Serwaa Frempomaa, after he alleged on national television that her marriage certificate is fake.
Evangelist Papa Shee, speaking on behalf of a section of the family, said the claim was false and has caused unnecessary tension. “She has helped the family in many ways, including supporting travel for some of them abroad and ensuring Daddy Lumba had German citizenship through their marriage,” he said.
Papa Shee emphasised the need for humility and reconciliation, urging Kofi Owusu to apologise. “He must acknowledge his mistake so that peace can reign in the family and the funeral arrangements can proceed smoothly,” he added.
The family is keen to resolve the conflict before the musician’s burial, which was initially scheduled for 13th December. Papa Shee stated that even if the funeral goes ahead on 3rd December, some members may not attend until tensions are resolved.
The case is set to feature in court proceedings on Thurdsay, 11th December, 2025, which will also include the release of the official autopsy report, expected to clarify the circumstances surrounding Daddy Lumba’s death.
The family insists that resolving these disputes and securing an apology from Kofi Owusu is crucial for restoring harmony and ensuring that the late musician receives a dignified farewell.
