Ghanaian Actors and actresses who have died in 2022

A number of Ghanaian actors and Actresses started the year 2022 but died along the way though there are a few months more to go.

1. Haruna Asamoah

Ghanaian Dumutive Actor, Haruna Asamoah, also known as ‘Baba Fabregas’, died in Nigeria at age 27.

The Kumawood actor was found dead in a hotel during a visit to our West African neighboring country this year, August 14. He is reported to have passed on in his sleep after complaining of a severe headache the previous night.

2. Prince Yawson

Prince Yawson, also known as Waakye, was a Ghanaian veteran actor/comedian. He died at the 37 Military Hospital as a result of illness. He died at the age of 65. ‘Waakye’, featured in many prominent movies in the Ghanaian movie industry and popular akan drama series Obra.

3. Kwaku Danquah aka Ice kenkey

Comedian and actor Kwaku Danquah aka Ice kenkey, graced the Ghanaian entertainment scene for several years with his jaw-dropping jokes and comedy.

The actor rose to fame following his appearance at the Concert Party. He starred with the likes of Bob Okala, Agya Koo among others.

Prior to his demise, Ice Kenkey was the founder of Powerlight Concert Party and also worked as a backup player for the African Heroes band.

4. Psalm Adjeteyfio

Psalm Adjeteyfio, also known as T.T., was a Ghanaian actor who featured in movies and videos. Born in Ghana, then known as Gold Coast, he was best known for the lead character T.T in the Ghanaian TV series Taxi Driver. Before he got into acting, he was a Ga language teacher at the PRESEC staff school.

T.T died on the morning of Friday, April 8, 2022.

5. Patrick Safo

Patrick Safo died on Saturday, June 4, 2022. The actor who also doubles as a pastor was also a Goodwill Ambassador for UN Youth Ghana. He starred in a number of movies. He came into the limelight through ‘Official Prostitute’ which had the late Suzzy Williams as the lead actor.

He was also a character in Venus Films Productions’ Crime to Christ in which Majid Michelle was the lead actor, among several others.

6. Osei Tutu

Osei Tutu, died aged 51 years. He passed away on May 17, 2022, after a short illness. He appeared on the movie seen in the early 2000s. He was very popular on screens and affectionately called Tutu. He played roles in several movies alongside big names like Agya Koo, Kyeiwaa, Emelia Brobbey and several others.

He became a rapper in 2010 but could not push his music career just as his screen prominence.

He owned a shop at Kantamanto, Accra.

He was a family man and happily married.

7. Prophetess Rita Kissiwaa Bamfo aka Maa Rita of Efiewura fame.

Maa Rita, who played a mother figure role in the TV series Efiewura passed on February, this year 2022.

Prophetess Rita Kissiwaa Bamfo aka Sweety, died when her biological mother’s one-week observation was being held.

She was buried on Saturday, April 2, 2022.
