Ghanaians events will be very boring if DJs stop playing Nigerian Music
A disc Jockey (DJ) with Accra-based Citi FM has said that DJs go through a hard time promoting Ghanaian music.
There have been concerns about the failure of Djs to promote music made in Ghana by Ghanaians.
The perception is that Ghanaian DJs are interested in promoting Nigerian songs rather than focusing on that of their compatriots.
But speaking on the Chat Show on Citi TV monitored by MyNewsGh.com, DJ Mingle indicated that it’s no fault of theirs that they play more Nigerian songs during events.
He said if a DJ rotates only Ghanaian music for more than 5 minutes, the crowd will disperse.
“Because of the influx of all these music across the world, when you go to these events sometimes me personally I make a conscious effort to say promote Ghanaian songs now when you are doing that and you are not careful as a Dj, all Djs can attest to this, if you are not careful, in five or ten minutes the crowd will disperse.
They like more of the Nigerian music, that’s a fact and it’s not our fault. They see it on the TikTok, on the reels, on status, they follow all these artistes and they’ve been influenced by these songs so when they see it, it’s what is playing in their minds so when they come to events they expect to hear these same songs.”
