He warned us about today’s world

Chance the Rapper has highlighted the political legacy of Ghana’s first president, Dr Kwame Nkrumah, describing him as a leader whose ideas still matter today.

In his post sighted by MyNewsGh, the US rapper focused on Nkrumah’s role in shaping Africa’s independence movement and his global influence.

“President Nkrumah went on to preach independence throughout Africa,” Chance wrote.

He said the former leader worked closely with Black American activists during the civil rights era.

“He formed coalitions internationally, working with Black American leaders through the civil rights movement,” he noted.

Chance also spoke about Nkrumah’s political philosophy.

“He formed the country with influences of Pan-Africanism, embodying the truth that there is a collective Black suffering globally that can only be solved through collective organizing,” he said.

According to Chance, Nkrumah believed strongly in class unity and community support.

“He was also a scientific socialist and taught class solidarity and communal aid,” he added.

The rapper pointed out that Nkrumah warned about future global challenges.

“He spoke of the dangers of neo-colonialism and Western imperialism in the very future we see today,” Chance stated.
