He’s a treasure Ghana doesn’t deserve
Ghanaian actor, director, and musician Kobi Rana has leapt to the defence of Kuami Eugene after the award-winning artiste became the subject of online trolling over a recent vocal training video.
The video, which captured Kuami Eugene rehearsing with intricate riffs and falsetto stretches, was shared online and quickly drew negative comments from some social media users — reactions that Kobi Rana has described as “nkurasefoc.”
In a Facebook post sighted by MyNewsGh, Kobi Rana wrote:
“If you are someone who listens and understands real global music, the current Kuami Eugene trolls will really piss you off. Herh, my heart.
See perfect riffs and falsetto. And the nkurasefoc reaction. I vex saaaaaa. Their favourites combined can NEVER. Eugene is the treasure they don’t deserve. Ghana and otanhunu.”
The post has since sparked a conversation about how Ghanaians treat their own talents, especially those pushing the limits of their craft.
Kobi Rana’s outburst reflects a growing sentiment among some creatives who feel Ghanaian artistes often face unnecessary backlash for experimenting or showcasing their artistry outside typical expectations.
Meanwhile, Kuami Eugene, known for hits like “Angela” and “Wish Me Well,” has yet to respond publicly to the trolling, maintaining focus on his music and upcoming projects.
