How a jealous colleague tried to get me removed from ‘Glamour Girls 2′
Veteran Nollywood actress Eucharia Anunobi has recalled a difficult moment early in her acting career when she faced resistance from a colleague over a major film role.
During a conversation on the The Honest Bunch Podcast monitored by MyNewsGh, Anunobi said the incident occurred while preparing for the sequel to the popular Nollywood film Glamour Girls.
According to her, she had already signed a contract to play the role of Anita when another actor questioned her involvement in the production.
“She looked at my script and asked who gave it to me,” Anunobi said, adding that the colleague appeared surprised that she had been cast in the role.
Anunobi later learned that the actress had approached the producer and requested that she be removed from the project.
“She told the producer to decast me and replace me with someone else,” she said.
However, the producer refused the request and allowed Anunobi to remain in the film.
Reflecting on the experience, the actress said the moment taught her an important lesson about success in the entertainment industry.
“It helped me realise that when you have a bright star, even people who already have their own success can still be envious,” she said.
