I cannot apologise for what I did not do
Nigerian pastor, Chris Okafor has formally withdrawn the apology he made in December 2025 to Nollywood actress Doris Ogala.
Addressing his congregation during a sermon, the cleric said the earlier apology was an error and should not be interpreted as an admission of wrongdoing.
“I cannot apologise for what I did not do,” he stated. “If there is anyone you think I apologised to, that apology is hereby withdrawn completely.”
Pastor Okafor explained that he was under pressure from people around him at the time. According to him, he was advised to apologise to ease tensions, but he later realised that doing so created misunderstanding.
“What I was being asked to do was like accepting what I did not do,” he said.
He maintained that he does not know Doris Ogala personally and has never met her face to face.
“I don’t apologise for what I did not know, what I did not do, what I did not get involved in,” he added.
The pastor also emphasised that the matter is now before the court and that he has submitted his evidence.
“The matter is in court. Whoever claims to have evidence should present it there. It is not about social media,” he said.
