I cut off a friend because of religion—Nana Tornado
Ghanaian media personality Nana Tornado has once again sparked controversy with his bold views on religion and personal empowerment.
Speaking on the Rants, Bants and Confessions show, hosted by Efia Odo and her co-host, Nana Tornado, expressed his belief that religion has conditioned people to expect miracles instead of taking control of their own destinies.
“Before, I had this friend who would come to me, and when I talked about God, he would try to push me. I got angry and cut him off. That’s what he believes in, but that’s not my thing,” he stated.
He recalled how, years ago, he faced backlash for openly questioning religious beliefs on social media. According to him, many people are trapped in a mindset that makes them wait for divine intervention instead of putting in the necessary work to improve their lives.
“Those days, I was always waiting, thinking that God would do everything at the right time, but who told you that? Nothing is going to be perfect unless you wake up and take action!” he argued.
Tornado further stated that he believes everything is within an individual’s control and not dependent on external spiritual forces.
“Religion makes people think they just have to sit down and pray, but that’s not how it works. You have to put in effort. Since I became a free thinker, everything I have said I would do, I have done it,” he said.
Despite his stance, he acknowledged that certain religious teachings align with his philosophy, pointing out that even the Bible states that “life and death lie in the power of the tongue.”
However, he believes that religious institutions have distorted these principles, making people dependent on faith rather than action.
