I don’t count more than 10 people as my friends – Rosalin Umar
During her insightful conversation on the Honest Brunch podcast monitored by MyNewsGh, Rosalin Umar shared valuable perspectives on money, marriage, and friendships—subjects she’s had decades of experience navigating.
Reflecting on her approach to wealth, she shared how her views on money have evolved over time. “Money is very important,” Rosalin said.
“It’s good to work hard and prepare for the future. You never know what tomorrow brings.” She recounted how her generation dealt with limited financial resources, noting how much more expensive life has become for today’s youth.
“When we were raising our children, we didn’t have the luxuries many families have today. We used to send our kids to public schools, but by the time the last set of children came along, the state of public schools had deteriorated, and we had to send them to private schools,” she explained.
“Today, the school fees are astronomical. We were paying for their education, but at least they’ve turned out well. Money can only take you so far, but values and hard work remain the foundation of a solid life.”
Her thoughts on marriage were equally insightful. Rosalin shared her strong belief that a married woman should know her values and the importance of setting boundaries in relationships, particularly with single friends.
She argues that a wife should prioritize her marriage and carefully consider the impact of keeping certain friendships.
“Some people think that married women should avoid single friends, but I think it’s about knowing your values.
“If your marriage is strong, you’ll know how to handle your friendships and where to draw the line,” Rosalin advised. “It’s not about controlling your spouse but about understanding the importance of the relationship you’ve built together.”
