I don’t sleep—Clemento Suarez on his hustle and day job

Clemento Suarez may be widely known for his hilarious performances, but there’s more to him than comedy.

In a revealing conversation on the Jenny Lifestyle Lounge, he discussed his work ethic, multiple talents, and even his surprising day job.

Aside from being a comedian, he is also a rapper, actor, and performer, seamlessly blending different skills. “I do rap. Anytime I do it, they give me money, so once I’m getting the money, we are good to go,” he joked.

Interestingly, Clemento also has a regular 9-to-5 job. “I work with the British High Commission,” he disclosed, shocking the host. When asked if that made him rich, he laughed, saying, “I don’t sleep. I work so that I can chop my money myself.”

Despite his various roles, he remains committed to Ghana’s comedy scene and actively supports up-and-coming acts.

He emphasized that while the industry is growing, younger comedians struggle to break through without mentorship.

“Some of them are even better than us, but because they are not known, they cannot survive on their own. They have to at least hold someone’s hand,” he explained.

Comedy, for him, is not just about making people laugh—it requires practice and skill. “Most of the time, we rehearse. Sometimes, we test our jokes, and the audience reaction gives us different angles to improve them,” he shared.

While Clemento has managed to avoid controversy, he admitted that some of his jokes have been discussed in certain quarters.

“I try my best not to offend, but sometimes people put two and two together and assume I’m talking about them,” he said.

Beyond the laughs, Clemento Suarez is a man of many talents, a hard worker who takes his craft seriously while ensuring he remains grounded.
