I knelt for the church, not for Doris Ogala

When Chris Okafor apologised publicly in December 2025, many assumed it was directed at Doris Ogala over allegations she had made.

The pastor now says that assumption was wrong. According to him, his apology at the time was intended to shield senior spiritual leaders who had supported him and whose names were being drawn into the controversy.

“I knelt because of the fathers of faith and the church,” he said. “Not because of any allegation.”

He explained that respected clerics who stood by him were being criticised, and he wanted to prevent further attacks on them.

“I wanted their names out of it. Leave it for me, I can take whatever comes,” he said.

Pastor Okafor described the situation as misunderstood and reiterated that he maintains his innocence. He added that the case is now in court and that he believes the legal process will establish the facts.

“It is not noise. It is the outcome that matters,” he stated.

He ended by saying he will allow the court to decide the matter.
