I received less than Ghc200 as royalties from GHAMRO in 2022- Highlife Musician Cries

Popular Ghanaian Highlife Musician Richard Kofi Tuffour known in the music industry as Nana Tuffour Jnr has complained bitterly about meagre royalties being paid to musicians who are members of the Ghana Music Rights Organization (GHAMRO).

Nana Tuffour Jnr who was featured by Okyeame Kwame and Frank Mensah Pozo on popular hit song ‘Apem Koraa Metua’ revealed “I received less than Ghc200 Cedis in December 2022 and I was shocked when I received the Money”

Speaking in an interview with AMBASSADOR TV monitored by MyNewsGh.com, “Even GHAMRO doesn’t not pay the royalties every month, you will be there for some years and they will send small token as royalties”

“I took all the royalties on Apem Koraa Metua song but I don’t chase GHAMRO for the royalties because the money I received as royalties cannot be used for the transportation to chase GHAMRO” Nana Tuffour Jnr told AMBASSADOR TV’s Osei Kwadwo

Nana Tuffour Jnr advised colleague musicians especially upcoming artistes not to focus much on royalties saying it will discourage them from doing music.

“Sometimes when you realized the hit songs some musicians have and the royalties they receive from GHAMRO, it will shock you and also discourage others to engage in music”, he observed.
