I recorded 'Osoro Bekasa' album in just five days – Diana Hamilton

Ghanaian gospel sensation Diana Hamilton has reflected on the remarkable evolution of gospel music over the years.

Speaking on Starr Chat with Bola Ray monitored by MyNewsGh, she traced her musical journey from the cassette era to the digital streaming age.

“I have seen the growth, I have seen the transitions. I was able to record Osoro Bekasa in the computer age, and at that time, we recorded a whole album in just five days because everything was done on a computer,” she shared.

Hamilton explained that the industry has gradually incorporated live instruments, transitioning from computer-generated sounds to richer, more dynamic compositions.

“It was a work in progress. The computer was gone, and we started introducing live instruments,” she said.

She also emphasized how the gospel music industry has evolved in terms of distribution. “I sold cassettes, then CDs, and now everything is online streaming and digital. That’s why I say we’ve grown, we’ve evolved,” she stated.

Despite the changes in production and distribution, Hamilton believes gospel music remains impactful. “If by the grace of God, the gospel space is still recognized as a genre that is doing well, then it means we’ve come a long way,” she added.
