I thought I was dead – Blakk Rasta on how he escaped gunshots during live radio show
Blakk Rasta has revealed how he once faced a frightening situation at a radio station when a man allegedly tried to attack him with a gun.
Speaking on Joy Prime, monitored by MyNewsGh, he said the incident happened while he was live on air.
“I was on radio doing my program when suddenly the lights went off,” he said. “I was angry because we were having generator problems.”
He explained that his producer rushed in and warned him.
“My producer ran in and said, ‘There’s a man here. He has a gun. He’s coming in,’” Blakk Rasta recalled.
Before he could react, he heard gunshots.
“I heard ‘pow, pow, pow,’ and I said, ‘This guy has shot me,’” he said. “When you hear a gunshot, you feel like you have been hit.”
After some minutes, he went outside and saw a man on the ground.
“I saw him lying in a pool of blood,” he said. “The security shot him with a pump-action gun.”
He explained that police later took the man to the hospital.
“They carried him away in the pickup,” he said. “Later, we heard he escaped from the police hospital.”
Blakk Rasta said he was relieved when he learned the man was alive.
“I was happy he didn’t die,” he said. “I don’t want blood on my hands.”
He added that the experience did not stop him from continuing his work in broadcasting.
