I want a DNA test to know my father
Anu Adeleke, the young woman whose mother has long claimed she was fathered by Afrobeats star Davido, has asked the singer to take a DNA test to confirm her paternity.
In a message shared online, Anu explained why she decided to speak out now.
“I am a bit late into the 15th day of the month, but I’ve been busy getting back to school after the holidays,” she wrote. “This year I become a teenager. My mom and grandma have always taught me to be responsible, no drugs, no alcohol, no bad company.”
She said the message was written by her alone.
“Today I drafted a letter from the depth of my heart, not with help from my relatives,” she stated. “As I grow older, I want to establish my identity.”
Anu revealed she has faced years of bullying because of the claims about her father.
“I was bullied in school since I was six years old and cried home daily,” she said. “Other students laughed at me when I told them my father was Mr David Adeleke.”
She added that the experience affected her mental health.
“I went through a lot of mental anguish and visited a medical professional to protect my mental health,” she wrote.
Despite the challenges, Anu said she remained focused on her education.
“I still excelled to the top of the class and became class prefect,” she shared. “Now that I’m in secondary school and still doing well, I don’t talk about my family history anymore.”
Anu then made her request directly to Davido.
“I am respectfully asking Mr David Adeleke for a DNA test to establish my identity,” she said. “This test is between my dad and me. It is something I want. It is the right thing to do.”
She added, “Please sir, consider my request once you read this post. I also sent it to your DM.”
Anu thanked Nigerians who have supported her over the years.
“Thank you to everyone who has given me emotional support for the last seven years,” she wrote. “This DNA test is the right thing to do for me.”
She signed off, “God bless you Mr Adeleke.”
