If you don’t have love, go and sleep – Abena Moet sparks Valentine’s debate

Love is in the air, but should singles feel the pressure to celebrate Valentine’s Day?
On The Toast show on GHOne, monitored by MyNeesGh, Achawa and Abena Moet went head-to-head over whether people without partners must partake in the festivities.
“Valentine’s is about love. Whoever you decide to share love with is your choice. If you’re a single lady, there’s absolutely nothing wrong with taking yourself out, buying yourself chocolate. Just don’t go and look pathetic outside,” Achawa stated firmly.
However, Abena Moet challenged the idea, questioning why self-love had to be limited to Valentine’s Day.
“Why do you have to go out on that particular day? You have every other day to do that. So, you don’t show yourself love except on February 14? That means you’re just feeling lonely,” she argued.
Achawa, however, was quick to clarify her stance. “No, no, I don’t want you to think that way. I’m also thinking about the people watching us who don’t have Valentines.
“So, they shouldn’t celebrate? If couples celebrate, singles can do their own version too.”
Abena Moet, unconvinced, drew an analogy. “That’s like Farmers’ Day—farmers celebrate because they are farmers. Valentine’s Day is about love. If you don’t have a lover, then what are you celebrating?”
She concluded with a blunt remark that had the studio in stitches. “If you don’t have love, go and sleep.”
