I’m not ready for my brother’s funeral—Lumba’s sister after court decision
Sister of the late Charles Kwadwo Fosuh, known popularly as Daddy Lumba, Ernestina Fosuh has indicated that, regardless of the court’s decision to deny her an injunction on Daddy Lumba’s remains, she is not ready to bury her brother on December 6.
The head of Daddy Lumba’s family (Abusuapayin) has declared full authority over the late singer’s funeral arrangements following a court decision that dismissed an injunction filed by the musician’s wife.
“The court has given us the go-ahead to organise the funeral. I will be going home to have a meeting with my family.
“We will do whatever we want to do. Nobody has any authority over the funeral apart from what the family head will say,” stated family head Victor Kofi Owusu Banahene after Tuesday’s court hearing.
The ruling comes after Daddy Lumba’s wife, Akosua Serwaa, filed a lawsuit against the family head, the singer’s second wife Odo Broni, and Transitions Funeral Home.
In her writ, Serwaa sought an injunction against the funeral proceedings, alleging she had been sidelined in planning and learned of the December 6 funeral date only through social media.
The Kumasi High Court dismissed the injunction application on October 28, 2025, following earlier hearings that began on October 16.
Lawyers for the family and Odo Broni stated that their submissions prevailed in court, clearing the way for the funeral to proceed as scheduled on December 6 under the direction of the family head.
However, speaking to the media after the hearing, Ernestina Fosuh insisted that the right thing must always be done.
She further indicated that she is in no way ready for her brother’s funeral.
“I will leave everything to God; all we want is for the right things to be done. For December 6, I am not ready, holding my brother’s funeral on December 6 for me I am not ready,” she told the media.
