It’s surprising and sad Abeiku Santana will question relevance of a streaming platform
Entertainment Journalist and pundit Arnold Asamoah Baidoo has expressed his surprise at Abeiku Santana’s questioning of the relevance of a streaming platform in 2024.
Abeiku Santana, while speaking at a meeting between former President John Dramani Mahama, hailed the decision to introduce a pay-per-view platform for creatives.
However, he condemned the move to partner with the private sector to produce a streaming platform for musicians.
To Abeiku Santana, even Nigeria, with its large population, does not have a state-supported streaming platform, so Ghana cannot have one, adding that Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has launched several apps that have turned out to be a white elephant; hence, creatives must take the streaming app with a pinch of salt.
But reacting to the position expressed by Abeiku Santana, Arnold Asamoah Baidoo expressed shock at the tangent his colleague decided to go, especially in 2024 when the streaming platforms are what is holding down the creative industry.
“Empress, I am surprised that Satana, with his pedigree, will question the relevance of a streaming platform in this time and age. How does anybody with that repute, with that understanding, question the relevance of a streaming platform? He also said it was a lie. Where are the lies that surround the streaming platform?”
