I’ve put in the work since 2009
Stonebwoy has set the record straight, addressing a long-standing misconception in the Ghanaian music scene.
In an engaging conversation with Ike De Unpredictable on Angel FM which this online portal followed, the Bhim Nation leader took the opportunity to clarify that his journey in professional music began back in 2009.
“For years, people have acted like I just appeared out of nowhere,” Stonebwoy shared, frustration in his voice.
“But I’ve been here since 2009, putting in the work, and that deserves recognition.” Despite his sustained presence and continuous contributions to the music industry, Stonebwoy has often found himself combating the narrative that he only rose to prominence in the last few years.
As he delved deeper into his career, Stonebwoy explained how he’s managed to maintain a steady path through the ups and downs of the industry.
“A lot of people in this field often get caught up in the sentiment and drama,” he said, referring to the sycophantic behaviours and politically driven commentary that flood the industry.
“But that’s not my approach. I’ve always focused on authenticity and staying true to my music.”
A key part of his strategy, Stonebwoy revealed, was forming a partnership with MC Portfolio, whose honest and unbiased commentary aligned with his own values.
“I saw in MC Portfolio what I’ve always believed the industry needs: someone who speaks the truth, no matter the side they’re on,” Stonebwoy explained.
“He’s not swayed by politics or popularity—just facts, and that’s what I respect about him.”
