Jnr Pope’s father dies a year after the actor’s passing

Grief has once again visited the Odonwodo family, as Ozor Luke Odonwodo, the father of late Nollywood actor Jnr Pope, has sadly passed on—almost exactly a year after his son’s untimely death.
The heartbreaking news was confirmed by Jnr Pope’s widow, Jennifer Awele, in a deeply emotional Instagram post.
In her tribute, she opened up about the back-to-back losses that have left the family devastated and trying to stay strong through their sorrow.
“Barely one month ago, I was with you in Enugu… some days later, Reme (my mother in love) called, asked how I and her boys are doing and further went to say that her husband has gone to meet my husband,” Jennifer wrote, recalling the moment she received the shocking news.
Describing the bond she shared with her late father-in-law, Jennifer expressed how deeply he loved her and how grateful she was to have spent time with him before his passing.
“Ozor Luke Odonwodo is one man that genuinely loved me… and I’m so thankful I got to spend time with him even though short unknowingly in his last days…”
She praised Ozor Luke as a devoted family man—an octogenarian who lived well, sacrificed much, and earned the love and respect of those around him.
Her message also turned to her mother-in-law, Reme, who now faces the unthinkable burden of burying both her son and husband within such a short span.
“Reme, Nwanyiomam, this is actually a lot within one year but I pray God gives you and us all the strength we need to keep pushing no matter how hard it seems…”
In a powerful closing, Jennifer offered a spiritual farewell to both father and son, clinging to the promise of resurrection.
“Adieu Father And Son… you are sorely missed but we hold onto the resurrection promises in John 5:28,29 And Acts 24:15.”
