King Ayisola deserves national fugu ambassador role — MC Portfolio Urges GTA

Media personality MC Portfolio has called on the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) to officially recognise King Ayisoba as an ambassador for Ghana’s National Fugu Agenda, citing his long-standing commitment to promoting the traditional fabric.

According to MC Portfolio in an interview with Kumasi-based Angel Fm monitored by MyNewsGh.com, King Ayisola has consistently championed the wearing of fugu (batakari) throughout his career, long before it became a widespread fashion trend.

“The state must honour King Ayisoba as an ambassador for the National Fugu Agenda. He best represents that identity,” he stated.

He noted that the musician has been intentional about projecting Ghanaian cultural heritage through his fashion choices, rarely appearing in Western-style clothing.

“I have never even seen him in a suit or kaftan. He is always in fugu, sometimes even designed with the Ghana flag colours,” MC Portfolio said.

He further highlighted that King Ayisola organised events such as the “Batakari Festival” well before the recent surge in popularity of fugu, demonstrating his pioneering role in promoting the fabric.

“He organised programs like the Batakari Festival before all these current fugu trends,” he added.

MC Portfolio argued that formally recognising King Ayisola would not only reward cultural consistency but also strengthen efforts to position fugu as a national identity symbol and a tool for tourism and creative arts promotion.

He urged the GTA and relevant state institutions to consider King Ayisoba because he has authentically and consistently advanced Ghanaian cultural branding and deserves to be appointed an ambassador.
