Koo Nimo’s Lifetime Achievement Award after 23 years of GMA was long overdue

After being active in the Ghana music scene from the late 1950s to the present, legendary musician, Koo Nimo finally received the Lifetime Achievement Award at the 2022 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA).
The 87-years-old Koo Nimo, who was elected President of the Musicians Union of Ghana ( MUSIGA) in 1979 was recognized for his contribution to the Ghana music industry and for his efforts to preserve traditional culture.
Speaking about Koo Nimo’s Lifetime Achievement Award, entertainment pundit and showbiz critic, Dan Lartey said this recognition was long overdue after staging the Ghana Music Awards for the past 23 years.
He told Amansan Krakye, “The little I have to say is that when Koo Nimo’s name was mentioned for the VGMA Lifetime Achievement Award I was very surprised.
“I was asking myself that after 23 years of organizing the Ghana Music Awards are we now honoring a legendary musician like Koo Nimo,” he said on Kastle FM in Cape Coast.
“This should have been done like so many years ago because for Koo Nimo to wait all these years for this recognition, I think it’s long overdue,” he concluded.
