Kumawood film industry collapsed because I was sidelined – Agya Koo

Legendary Ghanaian comedian, actor and performer, Alex Kofi Adu known on the screens as Agya Koo has revealed that, the Kumawod movie industry collapsed because some people decided to kick him out of the game.
Speaking on Kumasi-based radio Ezra FM in an interview, Agya Koo revealed that in previous years, any time people wanted to watch Ghanaian movies especially those in the USA (New York City), they only asked if Agya Koo was part of the cast which was an indication that, he was marketable.
According to Agya Koo, comparatively, he is more marketable than any other Ghanaian actor hence the decision to sideline him which ended up killing the industry.
“Though I was not the only one acting at the time, any time people wanted to watch Ghanaian movies, they mentioned the name Agya Koo. Why didn’t they ask for someone else’s name”, Agya Koo asked the host of the show.
“They sidelined me and now they blame the emergence of CDs for the collapse of the industry which is not true. But they will not accept this fact”, he added.
Agya Koo further revealed that after joining the social media channel YouTube, he has been making a lot of success there and still plans to make things possible to revive the collapsed Kumawood movie industry.
