Let’s not miss this chance — Shatta Wale appeals to Ghanaians after Grammy consideration
Shatta Wale has called for unity among Ghanaians and Africans following news that his latest project, Street Crown, has been officially approved by the Grammy Academy for consideration in the Best African Music Performance category at the upcoming 68th Annual Grammy Awards.
Announcing the milestone on Wednesday, October 1, the Melissa hitmaker took to social media to express gratitude and pride, describing the achievement as a win not just for himself but for the entire African Dancehall movement.
“This moment is not just about me; it’s about Ghana, Africa, and every fan of African Dancehall.
“From the streets to the world stage, our sound and culture now stand on the biggest platforms,” he wrote.
In a follow-up message, Shatta Wale addressed his fellow Ghanaians, urging them to embrace collaboration over rivalry and to recognize the collective potential within the continent’s music industry.
“Let us not make the mistake of losing this opportunity for another international breakthrough,” he cautioned.
“You undervalued Beyoncé’s feature, and you can see how Kartel is promoting the brand.
“Let’s identify the opportunities that we can all benefit from as a country and set aside our personal feelings. It’s a lovely world, my brother, my sister.”
Ending his message on a unifying note, the outspoken artist reaffirmed his belief in continental solidarity, adding,
“It’s 1 Africa, 1 Ghana.”
The Street Crown project, which fuses authentic Dancehall energy with Afro-inspired rhythms, marks Shatta Wale’s renewed global push.
His Grammy consideration comes years after his landmark collaboration with Beyoncé on Already, a feature he believes was underappreciated at home despite its international impact.
