Mahama unveils ‘Black Star Experience’ to boost tourism and culture

President John Dramani Mahama has announced the launch of ‘The Black Star Experience’ as part of his administration’s vision to position Ghana as a premier global tourism destination.
Speaking during his State of the Nation Address, he emphasised that this flagship initiative will leverage Ghana’s rich cultural heritage, natural beauty, and dynamic creative sector to attract visitors and strengthen the country’s tourism economy.
“Our goal is to establish Ghana as the gateway to Africa for the global diaspora, offering thoughtfully curated cultural, historical, and creative arts experiences in collaboration with the private sector, diplomatic missions, ministries, departments, and agencies,” President Mahama stated.
As part of the initiative, his government will introduce the Pan African Month, which will feature:
- Street carnivals
- Film week
- Fashion festivals
- Food fairs
- Theatrical and drama performances
- Concert party competitions
- Monthly domestic tourism destinations
President Mahama assured that ‘The Black Star Experience’ will not only showcase Ghana’s cultural identity but also drive economic growth by making the country a hub for global tourism and investment.
The president has appointed veteran Musician Rex Omar as a presidential staffer in charge of this project.
