Making money as a musician in Ghana is a very difficult thing for all genres
Prolific rapper, Lyrical Joe born Joseph Gamor has said that making money with music in Ghana currently is a very difficult thing and not limited to those who do rap music alone.
Ghanaian rapper, Edem speaking in a recent interview on Daybreak Hitz mentioned that throughout his career, his rap songs have not fetched him as much income as other genres of music he released.
Lyrical Joe who recently won Best Rap Performance at the 2022 Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA), sharing his opinion revealed that doing music pays but you need to get to a certain level before.
“The truth is that it’s not about rap music alone but even actually making money with music in Ghana currently is a very difficult thing,” he said in an interview with Amansan Krakye.
He added on Cape Coast-based Kastle FM, “Because we have very talented underground artistes who are doing great afrobeat songs like King Promise but are not making enough money out of it.
“So it’s just that doing music pays but you need to get to a certain level before you start making money so if God helps you to get to that level the money starts coming out of it,” he ended on the Kastle Entertainment Show.
