Marriage isn't about age; it's about maturity and intentions

On Nedu Wzobia’s Honest Brunch podcast, one of the guests, Cynthia shared her thoughts on the idea of marrying someone younger, saying, “Personally, I don’t mind marrying someone younger.

I think it really depends on the person. How mature is the person? Can the person handle a situation as grand as marriage?”

She continued, explaining that maturity is key: “Some people prefer someone older because they feel that the person can help curb their excesses, but I believe age is just a number. It’s not always about age. We’ve seen situations where a younger person knows just as much as an older person.”

Cynthia reflected on how, when we are younger, we often think we know everything, only to realize later how much more there is to learn: “If you remember when you were younger, there are things you know now that you didn’t know back then, but you thought you knew everything.”

Ultimately, she stated that what matters is the maturity and mindset of the individual: “If the person is forward-thinking, mature, and wants what’s best for both of us, then age shouldn’t be an issue.”

She went on to challenge the notion that an older partner is always the better option, saying,

“A person who’s older can still be silly, and we know situations where the older partner is not the best one.”

Cynthia doesn’t think age should be a barrier as long as the person is mature and has the right intentions.
