Marrying as a virgin doesn’t guarantee satisfaction
During a recent discussion on the Honest Bumch podcast monitored by MyNewsGh, guests Barrister Olamide Onifade and Okon Lagos explored the delicate terrain of sexual compatibility and premarital expectations.
The conversation touched on the controversial topic of marrying as a virgin and whether abstinence truly guarantees marital satisfaction.
Barrister Onifade, drawing on his legal experience, revealed that some women had approached his office after discovering unsettling realities about their husbands’ sexual performance.
“I have cases I’ve handled where the woman found out that the man couldn’t get it up at all,” he explained. He noted that these women had followed the “Christian way,” remaining virgins until marriage, only to confront frustration years later.
The discussion emphasized that sexual performance and satisfaction cannot always be predicted or ensured, even in marriages grounded in religious principles.
Onifade cautioned that marrying a virgin doesn’t automatically lead to lifelong contentment: “When you marry somebody as a virgin, it’s very easy to take that person for granted… She doesn’t know anything,” he said.
Beyond sexual compatibility, the duo touched on broader marital considerations, including trust and discretion.
Okon Lagos highlighted the complexities surrounding paternity, noting that DNA testing, while possible, can destabilize families if handled insensitively.
“If you want to make it a policy in your marriage to conduct DNA on your children, it’s absolutely fine. You don’t have to announce it,” he said, underscoring the delicate balance between honesty, discretion, and trust in relationships.
