Megan Thee Stallion takes legal battle to prison, seeks testimony from Tory Lanez
The legal drama between Megan Thee Stallion and Tory Lanez has taken another turn, as a federal judge has granted Megan’s legal team permission to question Lanez under oath while he serves his prison sentence.
This development is tied to her ongoing defamation and cyberstalking lawsuit against blogger Milagro Cooper, whom she accuses of spreading false information and orchestrating online harassment on behalf of Lanez.
Megan’s lawsuit alleges that Cooper actively engaged in a campaign to discredit her, going as far as promoting a deepfake pornographic video without her consent.
Her legal team believes that Lanez may have played a role in funding or directing Cooper’s actions, citing evidence from prison phone calls in which Lanez reportedly discussed Cooper with his father, dismissing any concerns that Megan could prove financial links between them.
The court ruling allows Megan’s team to depose Lanez remotely via video conference or through arrangements with the California Correctional Institution, where he is serving a 10-year sentence for the 2020 shooting incident involving the rapper.
Chief U.S. District Judge Cecilia M. Altonaga approved the request, marking a significant step in Megan’s fight to hold those she believes are responsible for defaming her accountable.
However, whether Lanez will cooperate remains uncertain.
Ceasar McDowell, CEO of Unite the People—the nonprofit law firm representing Lanez—has downplayed the likelihood of his client complying.
“If you know Tory Lanez how I do, good luck trying to get him to ‘testify’ to anything,” McDowell stated, making it clear that Lanez has not agreed to participate and is not directly named in Megan’s lawsuit against Cooper.
