Nigerian woman slams Davido over Carter Efe livestream appearance
A Nigerian woman has criticised Afrobeats star Davido following his recent appearance on comedian and content creator Carter Efe’s Twitch livestream, arguing that the singer’s approachability undermines his status as an A-list artist.
In a video circulating online, the woman said she admires Davido but believes he sometimes does too much in an effort to please everyone.
“I love Davido, we’ve been friends for a long time. But then I feel like he does too much sometimes. You need to give yourself that respect, that level sometimes. Who’s Carter Efe?” she said.
She questioned Davido’s decision to associate publicly with Carter Efe, suggesting the move was motivated by a desire to remain in the good books of all audiences rather than protecting his brand.
“Why are you showing up for Carter Efe, is it because he called out Wizkid the other day, so you want to go and be in the good book of everybody. Not everybody must like you,” she said. “He’s always doing stuff so everybody will say oh he’s a good guy.”
The woman contrasted Davido’s highly visible and accessible public image with Wizkid’s more reserved approach, which she described as befitting of a global star.
“That is why I respect Wizkid. You can’t be everywhere. You’re a star; respect yourself, give yourself some,” she added.
She also criticised Carter Efe’s public persona, questioning what he represents and why a star of Davido’s stature would associate with him.
“What does he do or represent? Acting like a lun@t!c, pulling his shirt,” she said.
Davido’s appearance on Carter Efe’s Twitch livestream was described by fans as historic, but this lady here has a different opinion.
