Nigerians don’t hate you – Yul Edochie pens open message to President Tinubu

Nollywood actor and filmmaker Yul Edochie has once again stirred public discourse—this time with a heartfelt message to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, urging him to tackle Nigeria’s pressing issues of insecurity and economic hardship.

In a post shared on social media on Monday, Edochie stated plainly that the discontent among Nigerians was not personal but rooted in their lived experiences.

“To my dear President, His Excellency Bola Ahmed Tinubu GCFR, Nigerians do not hate you, they hate the situation they find themselves in, which is the hardship & insecurity in the country,” he wrote.

Edochie, who has in recent years been vocal about national issues and his aspirations in politics, praised the president for achievements in infrastructure and policy but emphasized that without addressing the high cost of living and security concerns, goodwill would remain fragile.

“His Excellency Sir, you have done so well in infrastructure and laid down some good policies. Tackle insecurity and high cost of living and you’ll write your name with gold in the hearts of Nigerians.”

This is not the first time Yul Edochie has entered political commentary. In 2018, he was appointed Senior Special Assistant to the Anambra State Governor on Creative & Entertainment Media.

He also made headlines for expressing his presidential ambitions ahead of the 2023 elections, often declaring his readiness to lead the country if given the chance.

Though his political journey has been polarizing, Yul remains one of the few public figures from the entertainment industry who consistently blends advocacy with celebrity—never shying away from critiquing the status quo or praising political leadership when he sees fit.
