Nigeria’s schools have normalized bullying – Bovi on why his kids school abroad

Nigerian comedian Bovi has revealed that his children no longer live in the country, a decision he says was driven by deep concerns over the state of education.

Speaking on the Uncolored podcast monitored by MyNewsgh, the comedian explained that his first son had been in the UK since 2021, initially by accident, but after reflecting on Nigeria’s school environment, he decided to keep his children there.

“My kids don’t live in the country [Nigeria] anymore. They have been in the UK for two years now. It started by accident; my first son has been there since 2021 in a boarding house,” he shared.

Bovi, who attended boarding school in Nigeria, recalled how it helped him develop resilience. However, he believes that the current system has taken a dangerous turn, as bullying has become an accepted culture under the guise of senior students disciplining their juniors.

“I went to boarding school in Nigeria, and it made me street smart.

“So I decided that my kid needs to go to boarding school but not in Nigeria because the educational system has accepted bullying by empowering students to bully their fellow students in the name of senior students disciplining their juniors,” he said.
