Nobody owns a date – Samini on December concert clashes
Samini has dismissed concerns about multiple concerts clashing during Ghana’s December festivities, saying artistes should focus on their core audiences rather than compete over dates.
Speaking on Joy Prime monitored by MyNewsGh, the musician said the industry has grown large enough to accommodate several events simultaneously.
“Nobody is entitled to a date,” he said. “Care about your core fans. Do your gig. Don’t worry about who is doing a gig on the same date.”
According to Samini, loyal fans will always show up regardless of scheduling overlaps. “You can’t expect somebody’s core fan to be in another queue trying to see another artiste,” he added.
He described his music journey as one shaped by constant evolution, having witnessed the transition from vinyl to streaming.
“We saw vinyls, cassettes, CDs, and now music is in the cloud,” Samini said. “I’ve seen it come full circle.”
Samini also confirmed that his upcoming December concert will feature exclusive performances from his yet-to-be-released eighth studio album.
“Fans are going to hear the album before it actually comes on the market,” he said.
On language in music, the artiste said he deliberately balances local dialects with broader appeal. “I do Dagari or Waale on every album,” he explained. “But sometimes you don’t want to force it.”
