NPP is ungrateful, they’ve forgotten everything I sacrificed for them
Veteran Film Producer Socrate Safo has lamented how the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) has neglected him and has forgotten all the sacrifices he made for the party.
According to Socrates Safo, the members of the NPP have ignored all those who campaigned for them in the past to come to power, especially people in the Creative Arts Industry.
This comment from Socrate Safo comes after veteran musicians Nicholas Omane Acheampong and Isaiah Kwadwo Ampong opened up during an interview on Ash FM about how disappointed they were for being neglected and how the NPP failed to recognise their efforts for the party.
Acheampong claims that his efforts have gone unrecognized by the party, with no compensation or acknowledgement for his contributions although he has been in devoted party member since 2008.
‘Today. I cannot point to anything that has been done for me in return. I cannot go and demand any compensation from those in power. But none of them has remembered any of the sacrifices I’ve made; none of them have recognized the sacrifices many people, especially the creatives, have made for them,” he said in a radio interview.
Reacting to the complaints of his colleagues, Socrate Safo during an interview on Peace FM stated that he had a lot to say but he has been restraining himself from speaking about his party.
According to him, he would have said worse things than the two musicians had said if he decided to speak.
“The things I have to say are more than what the two musicians have already spoken about, but I have kept quiet. I am managing it, not because I am a party member. I understand what they are saying a hundred and one per cent. If I am not able to control myself, the sort of things I will let out will be more than what they have put out… “
“I am speaking for all; someone may be in the Butterfly Party [Movement for Change] and will be going through what we are currently experiencing. Someone may be in the PNC going through the same thing.
“The political parties’ treatment of some of the people who volunteer for the party is so bad and provokes anger. All political parties across the country don’t appreciate their volunteers and treat them well,” Socrate Safo said.
