People say I’m rude, but they don’t know me
Award-winning rapper Medikal insists he is widely misunderstood, arguing that the public often forms opinions based on hearsay and online narratives.
Speaking to Andy Dosty monitored by MyNewsGh, he said many assumptions about him, especially claims that he is rude, are entirely false.
“Some people say I’m rude,” he noted. “Sometimes I meet people and they say they had a different perception about the brand Medikal, and I’m like, ‘I don’t know where you heard it from.’”
He believes his music persona and real-life identity are no different. “Medikal and the man are the same. Same guy,” he said, rejecting suggestions that artistes must switch between characters.
The rapper explained that he values straightforward communication. “There’s something intriguing about reality to me. I don’t like to beat around the bush. I like to go straight forward.”
On boundaries, Medikal said energy determines how he engages people. “When you see the person is not reciprocating the same energy, there are boundaries you shouldn’t cross. I always know how to articulate my words and find my way.”
He added that people often confuse entertainment with real character. Drawing an analogy, he said, “You see the way Rambo kills everybody for the movie? On a normal day you won’t see him holding a gun and shooting. The personality they attach to the personal life is wrong.”
