Please don’t borrow money – Mr Macaroni shares hard lessons after financial struggles
Popular Nigerian content creator, Adebowale “Debo” Adedayo, widely known as Mr Macaroni, has shared a personal story about how he lost all his savings to a scam and a failed investment between 2021 and 2022.
Recounting his experience in a heartfelt post on X, the comedian revealed how the incident forced him into debt.
“Sometime around 2021/2022, I was a victim of a scam and simultaneously a failed investment that cost me all I had saved at the time. It shook me deeply, but I told no one about it,” he wrote.
Despite the financial setback, Mr Macaroni continued supporting others while keeping his struggles private. However, he soon found himself borrowing money to meet his commitments, believing he would be able to repay with ease.
“I make money in millions, so I never thought borrowing money to pay back with interest could ever be a problem. But I got too comfortable and it took me a long time to realize that I was using the money I was earning to pay back interests,” he admitted.
Reflecting on the lesson learned, he urged his followers to be cautious with borrowing. “Please don’t borrow money! But if you must, please be responsible.”
His revelation has sparked conversations about financial literacy and the importance of responsible money management. Fans and colleagues have since flooded his page with words of encouragement and support.
