Popular Facebook influencer Abena Magis faces fresh fraud allegations
Popular Facebook influencer Abena Magis, also known as Abena Manokekame, is once again at the centre of controversy following new allegations of fraud.
A Facebook user has accused Abena and her brother, John Kwesi Odoom, of defrauding him of GH¢50,000.
According to the accuser, in 2023, Abena shared a travel and tour Telegram link created by her brother, promoting a job opportunity in Canada.
Interested, the complainant visited their office in Kasoa Ofaakor, where he met John Kwesi Odoom and paid GH¢500 as a registration fee and GH¢3,000 as a down payment for the Canada opportunity, receiving an official receipt under Abena Magis’ name.
However, the Canada job offer was later cancelled. Instead, the complainant was offered a slot in the Cayman Islands for a fee of GH¢36,000. After making the payments, the complainant alleges that Abena blocked him on all platforms.
Responding to the allegations on Facebook, Abena denied any wrongdoing, stating, “I am not a scammer, nor have I ever been. My reputation is built on trust, and I remain dedicated to maintaining the highest level of integrity in everything I do.”
Despite her statement, many social media users criticised Abena, accusing her of evading accountability. Comments labelling her a fraudster and scammer have flooded her posts.
This is not the first time Abena has faced such allegations. In 2022, she was reportedly arrested in Takoradi over similar fraud claims.
