Portable just turned himself in—Police Confirm singer’s surrender

Controversial Nigerian singer Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, has surrendered himself to the Lagos State Police Command following his declaration as a wanted person.

Police Public Relations Officer Benjamin Hundeyin confirmed the development, stating, “Portable just turned himself in at the SCID Yaba. We have contacted Ogun State Police Command to come pick him up.”

Portable’s surrender comes after he was accused of leading a violent attack on government officials who were carrying out their lawful duties.

The altercation involved three officials from the Ogun State Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development, Ota Zonal Office—TPL Onabanjo Abidemi, TPL Raymond Lateef, and TPL Ridwan Oyero Akinlesi—who were on an enforcement mission at Oke-Osa, Tigbo Ilu Ota.

According to reports, the officials were confronted by Portable and his associates, sparking outrage and prompting the police to take action.

While the singer initially attempted to evade arrest, his decision to turn himself in marks a new development in the case.

Police have assured that further investigations will be conducted to determine the extent of his involvement in the incident.

Previously, In what appears to be an attempt to evade arrest, Portable released a video claiming he is mentally ill and receiving treatment at the Federal Neuropsychiatric Hospital, Aro, in Abeokuta.

His claim has, however, been swiftly rejected by the police, who insist that he must turn himself in for investigation.
