Rex Omar reveals why young musicians are now doing trendy songs
Rex Owusu Marfo popularly known in the Ghanaian showbiz industry as Rex Omar has spoken about the declining state of Highlife music.
According to the veteran musician, the dynamic nature of culture means that people can no longer continue doing what was done in the past.
Rex Omar further indicated that the state has not invested in the creatives to protect and preserve Highlife which is part of the nation’s heritage.
He responded “Culture is dynamic and in Ghana we always talk about our Highlife but what has the state done to support an artiste who wants to protect and promote Highlife.
“The state has not invested in the creatives and so every young man wants to do the type of music which is marketable and bring him money,” he told Amansan Krakye observed by MyNewsGh.com
He added on Property FM in Cape Coast “After all the person used his own money to do the recording of the song so it’s difficult to actually continue doing Highlife that’s the young ones”.
