‘Serious-minded’ musicians can never do away with radio, TV
Musician, Emmanuel Kweku Owusu Darlington popularly known as Kweku Darlington has said that no musician can do away with radio and television stations.
He queried “Why don’t you need radio stations? I mean radio and television you can’t do away with these two platforms because when did social media come into the system?
“Yeah social media is part but radio and television get everyone listening to you because as we are talking on this show right now I can’t even imagine the number of people who are listening to us,” he stated.
He continued “Not everyone has that time to go on social media but for radio, it is everywhere at least most people do have a radio in their homes and cars but not everyone has a smartphone”.
The artiste who was speaking to Amansan Krakye in an exclusive interview monitored by MyNewsGh.com said the reason why most of his songs have gone very far in Ghana is because of radio.
“My mum, for instance, doesn’t have a smartphone but she has radio and one of the reasons why my songs have gone very far into the rural areas in Ghana is because of radio.
“Because in most of the villages a lot of people might have smartphones but even access to the internet might even be a problem in those areas so it’s radio that most of them listen to,” he said on Kastle FM in Cape Coast.
