Sister Derby opens up about attending Medikal’s Indigo Concert
Ghanaian artist Deborah Owusu-Bonsu, known in the music scene as Sister Derby, recently opened up about her decision to attend Medikal’s highly anticipated Indigo concert at The O2 in May 2024, despite their tumultuous romantic past.
In an insightful interview with Arnold Mensah Elavanyo on Vibe in 5, as reported by MyNewsGh.com, Sister Derby shared that her attendance was influenced by Medikal’s assurance that Fella Makafui, his wife at the time, would not be present.
“Medikal told me Fella won’t be there, and that made my decision easier,” Sister Derby explained, highlighting the complexities of their history.
The relationship between Sister Derby and Fella Makafui has been fraught with tension, largely stemming from the infidelity that marred her relationship with Medikal. Derby recounted, “Fella has shown me a lot of disrespect.
“I know she doesn’t want to be in my company, and that’s fine.” Despite the past grievances, she emphasized her commitment to her music career, stating, “I wasn’t going to let personal issues affect my professional opportunities.”
The concert provided a platform for Sister Derby to showcase her talents alongside Medikal, who invited her to perform their collaborative hit. “When he asked me to perform our song, it was impossible to say no,” she admitted.
In conclusion, Sister Derby reflected positively on Medikal, asserting, “Regardless of what happened, he’s fundamentally a good person and has always been generous.”
Her willingness to put aside personal differences for a professional collaboration illustrates the complex dynamics often present in the entertainment industry.
