Society judges single mothers too harshly – Vicky Zugah
Ghanaian actress and television presenter Vicky Zugah has shared her experience with societal judgment as a single mother, revealing that she has often been unfairly labelled simply because of her status.
Vicky reflected on the stigma she has faced over the years while Speaking on The Real Talk Podcast hosted by Elizabeth Essuman.
“I have been called a ‘bad person’ because I’m a single mother. It used to affect me back then, but not anymore,” she said.
The actress noted that while being a single parent is challenging, the societal perceptions surrounding it make the experience even harder.
“In our society, single parenting can be saddening when some single parents must handle every aspect of parenting alone and depend heavily on support systems such as family and friends,” she explained.
Vicky Zugah, who rose to fame in the early 2000s with her roles in Ghanaian movies such as Trokosi, My Darling Princess, and The Return of Beyonce, has built a reputation for speaking candidly about personal and social issues.
Beyond acting, she has successfully transitioned into television, hosting shows like Red Light Show on TV3 and later The Real Talk Show on GHOne TV, where she discusses real-life relationship and lifestyle topics.
