Stonebwoy acknowledges Nigeria’s lead in African music

Ghanaian dancehall artist Stonebwoy has emphasized the need for unity in the African music industry, stating that reducing ego and selfishness will help solidify its global influence.

“When African music comes to play, Nigeria would be the lead,” he admitted in an interview on AfroVibes in New York which was monitored by MyNewsGh.

“But when Nigeria speaks, they will tell you about the contributions that have been made for it to be in the lead.

“Aside from organizing shows like Due Concepts is doing, we also have to reduce the ego and selfishness and give credit so that it becomes a complete circle.”

Stonebwoy further highlighted the significance of collaboration, particularly his recent performance at Madison Square Garden alongside Nigerian superstar Davido.

“We just performed at MSG with Davido, one of Africa’s greatest. I have to send very big love to my brother because ever since we started connecting in person, it has been a blessing, and the world loves it,” he said.

“Appearing on his show at Madison Square Garden was amazing—the energy, the crowd, the love. There were Ghanaians in the crowd too, and that was beautiful to see.”
