Stonebwoy delayed show out of fairness to fans
Media personality and Public Relations Officer for Stonebwoy, Vida Adutwumwaa Boateng, has clarified that the dancehall artiste’s late appearance at his recent show was a deliberate decision taken in the interest of fans who were still struggling to access the venue.
Speaking on a podcast, Boateng disclosed that ticket redemption challenges persisted well into the night, making it impractical for Stonebwoy to mount the stage at the scheduled 10 PM time.
“Around 3 AM, people were still at the gate trying to redeem their tickets. It’s part of the reason Stonebwoy couldn’t perform at 10 PM as he assured,” she said.
According to her, the artiste and his team had prepared early and were mindful of the overall programme. “We were ready very early and looking at the event line-up, if we should start the show at 10 pm, we would still close the next morning,” she explained.
Boateng said Stonebwoy was fully aware of the situation unfolding outside the venue and chose not to begin the performance while ticket holders were stranded.
“Stonebwoy was worried and he knew about the difficulties in the ticket redemption so if he began the show at 10, while some people were outside, it wouldn’t be fair to them,” she stated.
She added that the decision was rooted in respect for fans who had paid to see the artiste.
“He decided to wait a bit longer so that they wouldn’t feel left out after buying the ticket or they wouldn’t get to watch him perform, meanwhile that’s why they used their money to buy the tickets.”
Boateng noted that the team had personnel on the ground monitoring the situation before the final call was made.
“We were working with the system and anything could have happened; that’s why Stonebwoy decided to wait so that they would be able to get the complete show,” she said.
